The Pentacle, or five-pointed star, has been a symbol of power throughout human history. It generates both awe and fear within us because of its continuous presence in nature, and its use in ritual magic. The “Morningstar” beautifully illustrates the pentacle at the core of nature. With the Pentagram at its center, the design gracefully expands outward creating an intricate wreath around the magical center.
The Pentacle became a secret symbol of the Goddess Venus, the Goddess Ishtar , and the Greek Goddess Hygeia, Goddess of Healing. The Greek Philosopher, Pythagoras, believed the pentacle was the “number” of man, representing the five-fold division of the body. The Vitruvian Man is a world-renowned drawing created by Leonardo da Vinci. A man within a pentacle represents this study. The five points were marked with the symbols of the five visible planets. The five points also represented the five elements of earth, fire, water, air, and spirit.
The Pentacle is also the symbol of regeneration. This is illustrated artfully, beautifully, and continuously in nature. One only needs to slice an apple in half to be reminded of the power and awe of this symbol. It is no wonder why the pentacle has been adopted as a symbol of power throughout history. The quest for power and its misuse have created fear and misunderstanding of this ancient symbol of truth. We must remember that the pentacle is a pure symbol of the power and truth in nature.
